Nigerian Legion Corps of Commissionaire gives Scholarship to 1,000 Children of Military Heroes

The Nigerian Legion Corps of commissionaire in partnership with IRS Bacom University, Benin republic has offered a full first degree scholarship to dependants of past and living military heroes.


The Coordinating Commandant General, Nigerian Legion Corps of commissionaire, retired Brigadier General David Buba Shaljaba disclosed this during a visit to some security formations in Ondo State.


Retired Brigadier General David Buba Shaljaba on arrival was given a warm reception and inspected a guard of honor at the Cenotaph parade ground, Alagbaka in Akure before proceeding to 32 artillery, Owena Cantonment.


At a meeting with the brigade commander, Brigadier General Muktar Adamu, the Coordinating Commandant General, Nigerian Legion Corps of commissionaire, said that the one thousand full scholarship slots was for the dependants of the retired military personnel across the country.


Retired Brigadier General Shaljaba explained that beneficiaries of the three-year full scholarship programme would however be responsible for their accommodation at the Beninois University’s campus.


Retired Brigadier General Shaljaba while also visiting the state commissioner of police, Oyeyemi Oyeniran announced an offshoot of the Legion Corps saddled with the responsibility of providing information for security agencies among other roles.


Responding, Brigadier general Adamu of the 32 artillery brigade who described the creation of the new security architecture as a welcome development encouraged the retired officers to always support Nigerian military with information that would boost security in the country.


Also, the State commissioner of police, Oyeyemi Oyeniran represented by his Deputy Yemi Oyeniyi expressed the police readiness to collaborate with all legal security outfits.


In an address, Ondo State chairman of the Legion, Retired Colonel Olubodun Apata charged the new Corps of commissionaire to eschew indiscipline at all times.
